Are you feeling unmotivated a lot of the times in these COVID times? Here’s why? Your mind and body have become really used to staying at home and not doing anything. But that’s just one perspective, if you change your mindset, you can make so much more use of your time!

1. Think about time

Most people spend 8+ hours on social media every single day in a week, especially during the quarantine. But what benefit do you gain from being on your phone besides looking at what other people are doing with their lives? Nothing! The 8 hours that you spend on your phone every day, you can spend time doing so many other tasks. Indulge in other hobbies that you’ve always wanted to do but have never had the time to do. What most people don’t realize is that by being on social media, we are giving these tech giants more power the longer we stay on these social media apps because that is how they raise revenue.

2. What hobbies can I indulge in?

Maybe you want to indulge in an extra hobby but are wondering what you can do. There’s a plethora. Start learning how to play an instrument you’ve always wanted to indulge in. It’s summertime, so plant a seed in your garden or plant pot and you can become a gardener! Maybe you’ve always liked to write in the past, you can practice your writing skills by keeping a journal, writing poems, or even creating your own songs! Maybe you want a more exotic hobby like creating your own plant pots or creating your own bicycle from scratch. Maybe you’ve been eating a lot during quarantine but you can balance that out by working out and writing a monthly schedule of days you’ll be working out. Technology is a valuable tool so you can work on creating your own website or a website for your own business so that more people have easier access to know who you are. This way, you can also add that you have some technical skills to your resume no matter what field you are in. Start that Youtube channel that you’ve always wanted to start now’s the time! Do home photoshoots with your siblings, family members, you can be resourceful and use your home background spaces as a photo-op, it’s prettier than you think! Read a book, maybe you used to read a lot back in the day, there’s plenty of books online that you can find. Listen to podcasts they’re really informative! Or you can start your own podcast! Maybe you want to get into investing, do your research on Google and explore ways on how you can learn to invest. Are you into fashion? Practice your sewing skills, maybe you’ll get inspired to start your own fashion line! Try Photoshop, maybe you want to get into digital art or animation. Maybe you want to become a doctor, practice suturing on a banana by watching Youtube tutorials. Start brainstorming ideas for a business that you’ve always wanted to start. Start cooking and baking more to exercise your chef skills. You can also get back into painting and creating art.

3. Creating productivity

Once you are on social media less and start more efficiently using your time throughout the day engaging in different hobbies, you will feel like a totally different person this will ultimately make you feel like you are making the most out of your day. Writing down your goals for each of these hobbies per day in a calendar journal is really useful so that you can track down and see the results at the end of the month and look back and reflect. It is scientifically proven that writing down your goals will lead to better results and I have done some of this myself and you can do it too! By creating perseverance within yourself and changing your mindset to “I’m going to make this a part of my routine going forward”. Many of us also work schedules that we adhere to but what are you doing with your time after work? One-two hours of downtime are okay but maybe instead of just watching television, you can engage in one of your hobbies.
